Merdon bedside table or sofa

The Merdon bedside or sofa table is reminiscent of antique furniture, with its distinctive coil-shaped, turned legs and dark, stained finish. Furniture with coil-like elements is called "Bobbin" or "Spool" furniture. This type of furniture was widely produced in the second half of the 17th century and then became popular again in the 19th century. The name is derived from the similarity of the legs or armrests to the bobbins used in the textile industry to spin yarn. This time-honoured technique has been applied to this more traditional, cottage-style Merdon table.
